Astroglide & Milk

After work, I stopped into Target to pickup eggs, a birthday card and a bunch of other items I didn't really need (gotta love this place) and as I approached the checkout line I noticed this woman who clearly was some sort of a crackhead, maybe meth. In either case, she seemed to be in a big rush and was sighing as we waited in line, she had jumped behind me as put my eggs on the belt. I noticed she didn't put anything on the belt though. She noticed that I had a coupon in my hand and she was in awe and kept going on about how excited she was that Target accepted coupons. As I was paying I noticed the gallon of milk, so I think...she must've walked to Target because she has dirty toes, wearing flip flops and I am sure she has no car, so she came to get some milk. But if she is in such a rush, why didn't she go to 7-11 right around the corner??? All of these stories and mental images are flying through my mind THEN as I am picking up my bags I hear her tell the 15 yr old checkout girl that the milk is not hers, but that "this is all I am getting" and she hands over a $6 tube of Astroglide. I totally giggled out loud and she shot me a nasty look. I thought it was hysterical. This woman was in a huff and a puff at 9pm in Target, just for lube.
You just can't make this shit up.

Summer is nearly over

Have not been online in a while, which is to say that I have been busy doing crap.
Had a very good french cheese last week, Morbier, i think it was called, i didn't get a new cheese this week though. Also still drinking vinho verde from Portugal, light sparkling wine that screams summer, either red or white.
I am learning to speak french with the help of some at-home course. Applying to grad school to finish this damn library degree has been taking up a lot of valuable time. Finally got around to jogging tonight and luckily Lurch was not in the fitness center, last week he spent nearly 10 minutes talking to me about his pizza fetish and he never even asked my name nor did he tell me his name. odd man.
Toronto trip is out, DH decided against it which is fine with me. I would rather go to Montreal if I am driving to Canada.
Mickey is doing fine, she is being nice to me again. Work is still lame.

Food for thought...

"77% of all marriages are sexless" this is a statistic from sex in the city. I imagine it might be true, this would explain the rampant adultry in our society.

More food for thought, well just food...had super cheap chinese in NYC on sunday, meal and app for less than $9!!! The meal is today's pic.

Tried a great cheese last week, mild and super tasty, Basque Deux Laits. Definitely give it a taste.

What I listened to today

Worked in the sun all day. super tired. I know you are dying to know what I listened to today....:)

Graceland - Paul Simon (the whole album, fun)
Sweet November, Walk this world - Heather Nova
Love will find a way - Tesla (found it scanning the radio, took me back to high school)
When he calls me kitten - Kelley Deal
Do you love me now - The Breeders (kind of annoying band)
Angel of the morning - the chrissie hynde version, maybe its the pretenders(?), her voice rocks
Some Flaming Lips &
Only - Nine Inch Nails (surprisingly addictive!)

There is more but I have to sleep. Don't you feel better knowing this?

Are some things really better left unsaid?

Learned today that marriage is not forever. Not that I didn't know that but I didn't realize that all married men cheat. Does that mean that all married women cheat? He has a great wife, a good life, he's just bored. These thoughts were brought on by a 'pop-in' visit and an interesting 2 hour conversation with 2 "lovers". Neither of which I am all that close friends with. He said he was telling me because I am impartial and I tell it like it is. Now let's see, how many times have I heard this before???? People just tell me things, why?

He should try and work it out with her before leaving, I mean really try. She should let them try and not get in the way. Let him be alone and clear his head then maybe a clearer decision can be reached. All of his cards are on the table, which is where they should be. Who likes to wonder? All of this seems to be killing him now but it won't forever. This kind of trouble has only just begun...

As for my own enlightenment..."I will always want to be her friend, I will always want to sleep with her." Hah! I blogged it for you! Although I am not sure what it means, thanks ;)

There is supposed to be some awesome meteor shower in 2 hours. I am going to try and stay awake or set my alarm to wake up and see it. I hope you are watching it too. It might have been nice to watch it with you. There is always a next time.

Song for the night is still Why by Annie Lennox. Some of the best lyrics put to music.

I luv books, I despise Starbux

Found a whole lot of interesting reads at Borders last night. In the mag section I came upon Difford's Guide to Drinking, which is awesome. I looked it up and found out that it is a UK mag that was called sauceguide or something like that. A quarterly rag about bars and drinking what could be better??? Damn now I'm going to have to have a drink tonight. I just realized that I have not been drinking since last thursday, a week, jeez!

New career I am working on, CIA. Could this not be a better fit for my personality? AND they have librarian positions, which is my second choice. Spending a lot of time this week looking for a school to finish my Masters degree and do it completely online and for less than $12000 a semester, not looking good. Fucking christ!

The newest Target Superstore has a fucking Starbucks in it. WTF???? AND there was a long line of white trashy folk waiting to buy $4 coffee. Do they even like the coffee there or do they think it just looks cool to walk around town all day with a Starfucks cup? Suckers. Baristas! Hah! Puhleeze, they are an older version of Dunkin Donuts teenagers. Get over it you snooty clones. And stay out of my beloved Target.

Listening to Annie Lennox today...:) More specifically Why by Annie Lennox is song of the day, for sure.

Innocence and mayhem all at once

What are we listening to today?

Insomnia for the past 2 days...woke up after 2 hrs of napping to Keane's Your Eyes Open. This set the tone for the morning which led to a car ride including Culture Club's Do you Really want to hurt me, which led to a draggin ass morning which then ended in a chaotic morning. First running to testify in court for a drunk who wound up being taken to the hospital because he came to court drunk. Went out east and saw DB and Jolie which was quietly amusing. East hampton radio must have had me in mind because the afternoon picked up with the music riding the 40 minutes back 'up island'. Some Barenaked ladies and Echo and the Bunnymen lifted my mood a bit but not enough so I switched to some super cheesy station which made my ears bleed. Coldplay is fucking everywhere on the dial so I went back to EH radio and got my Bowie fix for the day which made me happy. Found some Skynyrd which I sang real loud and then laughed at myself when I saw an elderly couple staring up at me. When I got in the car at night to come home, more Keane...fucking inescapable. We might as well be strangers, hmmpf! Good band nevertheless.

After all this, 2 songs of the day: Let's Dance by Bowie. That androgynous freak. AND Going Through the Motions by Aimee Mann.

My top male musicians and not just for listening to: Sting (but of course my dear), Robert Plant, Chris Cornell (the voice not the man)....hmmmm can't finish the list yet.

I forgot the interesting thoughts I had today. I need sleep. Oh I remember, I think Simon Cowell is an ass on American Idol but very amusing otherwise, minus the jowels, he should take care of them with botox or something. Those remind me of Dick. I mean the title of his book is what I say at least once a day, "I don't mean to be rude but..." I am just giving my opinion. Maybe if I wear the same ugly black Armani shirts all the time I can get lots of cash for insulting people, hell I do it for free now!

What is up with that?

Found this craziness today...a fucking warning on my FrozFruit strawberry ice pop:

Notice: This product, when extremely cold, may stick to warm lips or tongue. Allow to warm slightly before eating.

It's a fucking icepop, why would I want it to warm up??? Do we really need a notice for this??? Jeez. Warnings on smokes, hot coffee cups, now ices???? Smoking is harmful, coffee is hot, frozen shit is cold. How fucking stupid are we? Just fucking insane and thats all i can say about it. fucking insane.

One irritating thing about California, everyone crosses at the crosswalk and they give tickets for jaywalking. What if I am drunk and can't make it to the corner? Nobody drives fast either. Somethings about NY are great. Running over pedestrians and having no consideration for others on the road. Hah!

A warning that is useful, stay away from Corey Beach in Blue Point. ICK. got out of the water and was covered in dirt and some oily residue. gross!

Driving home tonight, heard the sweetest song while scanning the radio. It's the song for the day: Lady by Kenny Rogers, awwwww fucking sugary crap music. Gotta luv it sometimes.

I am lovely goddamn it!

Back home haroumph...The flights coming back were not as bad as going, but I did get my bag taken away from me in Chicago because I left it unattended for a fucking minute when I went to pee. of course. Fuck me! I got it back with my charm and charisma, oh and playing stupid! So Mickey and I are back to boring Long Island life and just being here makes me anxious to leave. Her meds worked though and she is not limping at all, but I am sure Mother and Grandfather fed her people food all week. Although, I didn't get the itch to move like I usually do, I had a great time being away and not having to deal with responsibility. Well enough about that...totally wired but will probably crash soon. I posted the pics in the photo album link so check it. Today's pic is of a very drunk me last night and my bestest friend JB. I am so tan!

My toes...

So this is my last day here and I am tired of sightseeing. I got coffee at a quaint place in Coronado and walked around looking for a korean woman to paint my toes. I happened upon a shop that told me I would have to wait 30 min, so I walked down to the local library. It was the most fantastic library I have been to in ages. It is so beautiful, yes beautiful. This island is so groovy. Got my toes done for only $13!!!! I thought cali was supposed to be expensive??? The same job here costs me $23!!!! So then I picked up JB for lunch and we went to La Jolla. Took a walk along the cove and saw some seals on a rock. Oh joy. Then we had super lunch with an awesome view, great fish taco, JB had great tuna soba salad. The food pics are in the album also.. hee heee. After, we went to Silver Strand beach and got tan and played in the water for a while. Finished the USA Today crossword. Met a freaky vet at McP's in Coronado who wanted to give us tickets to some women's tennis event. Evening in Gaslamp, drinks at the Strip Club, which was interesting, grill my own steak???? fuck that. Dinner at Sevilla, which was so fun. Sangria, tapas, paella, etc....fun fun. Then we went to a bar Patricks, which had a blues band which capped off a great week. 2 pics for ya today!

Living the life...

Today I went to Torrey Pines in the morning for a hike, but twas too cold for me. The weather here is strange. Drove back along some local roads and had coffee in Old Town and played on the internet. Took a walk there, refused to allow myself to look at the map and took a detour up some gigantic hill, of course. Then had to walk all the way back, argh! The area is totally a tourist trap and uninteresting aside from a groovy cemetary. Went to Whole Foods and got lunch for JB and me, I LOVE that place!! I hope we get one around here. We went to some park area but left because of the vagrants. We went to the Gaslamp for the evening and wound up getting great Indian food at Monsoon and the irritating hostess insisted I get a fucking bindi on my head. It came off as soon as we left. The meal was awesome though and they did serve wine in huge glasses. I think we went back to the Princess after that.....????

Exploring on my own

Did a walking tour of the Gaslamp Quarter this morning. Had lunch at Ole Madrid, good fish. JB cut out of work and we went to Balboa Park and did a walking tour there. The we took a long drive back and drove through Pacific Beach, Ocean Beach, Sunset Cliffs and to Point Loma and the Cabrillo Monument. So beat from walking....went to Little Italy for dinner and had pizza and wine at a great place. For some silly reason I took off my heels and went to the bathroom barefoot??? It didn't even freak me out when I had t.p. attached to my bare foot!! Then we capped off the night at the Princess Pub, some cheesy british type pub down the block. They have the swankiest looking 7-11 there. Passed out early in my clothes, ugh.

LONG day

Got to San Diego, no problem. Mickey was fine when I dropped her off, we'll see what happens. Had lunch at the Fish Market, disappointing snapper. Took a walk along the Harbor. Fell asleep by the pool, went to Coronado for the evening. Fun little town. Had fine tuna at Hotel del Coronado with too much wine and expensive weak drinks at the bar. Check out the pics!
